The 2008 Utah television ads promise to bring even more vacationers to the state*
Filed Under Utah recreation, Utah tourism |
Last year, Utah tourism advertisements did much better than expected. This year, they’re changing the message a little in hopes to bring even more people to the state.
Last week, the Salt Lake Trib reported that March will see the beginning of the Utah tourism advertisements, directed at various states and cities around the country. L.A., Phoenix, and Denver are among the cities that have historically sent the most vacationers to Utah, so they’ll be hit up again in 2008.
But this year, viewers won’t only be subjected to Utah’s breathtaking natural beauty in the form of whitewater rivers, mountain vistas, and red-rock canyons. They’ll also witness some of Utah’s cultural attractions. Scenes of the Utah Symphony at Deer Valley and bustling restaurants will hopefully give potential vacationers a sense that Utah is more than just a place to enjoy the outdoors - it’s also a place to enjoy good company, good food, and great entertainment.
The idea is to keep people here for longer periods of time. It’s great when someone comes to ski for a weekend, but they should know that they could stay for a week if they wanted to, and still have something to do every day and night of their trip. Most people around here know somebody who came to Utah on vacation, decided to stay a while longer because they were enjoying themselves so much, and eventually decided to stay permanently. But I suppose that Utah tourism’s effect on Utah real estate is another post for another day.
As far as I know, we won’t be able to see the new 2008 ads until they air in a week, but the Utah Office of Tourism website gives a visually stimulating idea of what we can expect. It’s a great website even for us locals who might have forgotten all the great things that there are to do here. It makes me anxious for the warm weather.
