Web-surfers will love Stumbleupon.com*
Now that I’ve been using it for a few weeks now, and I really like it, I have to give some positive feedback to Stumbleupon.com.
Stumbleupon is a social networking site, but it’s so much more. Instead of focusing on the people that make up the community, the focus of this network is the internet itself. Stumbleupon is all about finding cool new websites, blogs, pictures and videos on the web, and then introducing you to the creators of those sites or blogs. It’s a different idea, and it’s a lot of fun.
My favorite thing about it is the toolbar. Stumbleupon’s toolbar looks kind of similar to the Google toolbar that most people have installed, but it’s much cooler. This toolbar has a little button that says Stumble!, and when you click on it, it sends you to a random website based on what your interests are. It’s like channel surfing the internet for things that it thinks you will like. When you see something that grabs your attention, you give it a thumbs up and you can write a review if you like. If you don’t like it, give it a thumbs down. You can send sites you like to your friends, view all the things that you have liked, and a whole bunch more.
Just like any other social networking site, just go to the homepage at stumbleupon.com and fill in your information first. Then install the toolbar to your web browser and you can start stumbling. When you review people’s sites in a positive way, they will be more likely to do the same thing for you, thereby bringing more people to your site or blog. It pays to be friendly and to actively participate.
I’ve found so many new sites and blogs by using this tool. It never ceases to amaze me just how many new things there are out there that I never could have found otherwise. I give it an A+.
