You won’t want to miss Utah Symphony and Utah Opera’s ‘Once Upon a Time Festival’*

Just recently I received a mailer from the Utah Symphony and Opera about an event that will be happening in February and March, called the “Once Upon a Time Festival”. It looks like it will be fun, so here’s a little of what you will see.
As you might have guessed from the title of the festival, all the events will be about fairy tales and legends. First, during the middle of February, the Utah Symphony will be playing the music of Edward Grieg at Abravanel Hall. At the same time, Pioneer Theatre will be putting on a production of Shakespeare’s ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and Ballet West will be performing Ben Stevenson’s ‘Cinderella’.
In March, Utah Opera will be performing Rossini’s ‘La Cenerentola’ (Cinderalla) at the Capitol Theatre. Like Ballet West’s, this one will be going on for about a week. During the two months of the festival, there will also be events at the City Library Auditorium and at the UMFA Auditorium at the University of Utah.
And one more thing. In mid March, you will be able to see the Utah Symphony perform ‘Ancient Voices of Children’, a work which pulls its text from the poetry of Federico Garcia Lorca.
There are way too many dates for me to write them all here, so go to this website and choose the ones you’d like to attend. Dates, locations, times - it’s all there.
